Do you remember being a kid and always wanting everything right now?
We couldn’t wait to be old enough to stay home alone. We didn’t need a stinkin’ sitter.
We couldn’t wait to start driving. Ahhh...freedom!
We couldn’t wait to move out of our parent’s house so we could live by our own rules.
Boy were we ever dumb!!
Seriously you guys. We had it so easy when we were kids. I don’t know about you but there comes a lot of responsibility with driving and living on your own. It’s not all fun and games anymore.
Rush hour traffic. Bills. Actually having to cook and clean for ourselves.
Adulting is hard y’all.
But have you ever sat back and wondered why we want to go from 0 to 60 in the blink of an eye?
Regardless of how fast something happens, we want it to be faster. It’s never fast enough.
And the same could be said for all the times we’ve started, stopped, and restarted some diet plan.
Admit it. As soon as you start, you want results. Day 2 of your new diet and you’re on the scale checking to see if you lost any weight. I see you.
Well my friend, I’ve heard your cries for help and today I’ve got 3 steps you can implement today to move things faster.
They will literally take you from 0 to 60 in no time flat.
Here they are:
1) Daily 5 minute action
2) Eat slowly
3) Stop eating when you’re 80% full
I know what you’re thinking. How are these 3 things going to get me from 0 to 60 Michelle? Because they’re magic, that’s how.
Just kidding. You know I don’t believe in magic around here.
However, in today’s post I’m going to focus on taking a daily 5 minute action because you’ve heard me say this before, CONSISTENCY IS KEY.
But you’ll also need a heaping dose of patience on top of that consistency sundae.
Tell me, what are you doing daily, right now, that is bringing you closer to your goal of fat loss? Muscle gain?
Nothing you say.
Well girl, that’s why taking a daily 5 minute action is Step 1.
Taking just 5 minutes a day may seem meaningless to you but it serves to help you become consistent at doing something, ANYTHING, that leads to your desired result.
So what exactly is a 5 minute action? Well, anything really, that only takes you 5 minutes a day.
It could be:
-drinking a glass of water every morning when you get out of bed
-flossing your teeth at night (full disclosure: I don’t floss, so maybe I should do this.)
-taking a walk outside
-doing 5 minutes worth of stretching
Get the idea? Keep it simple. It doesn’t necessarily have to revolve around working out or eating. This is about getting into a consistent habit. Period.
Completing a daily habit helps you to feel empowered. Who doesn’t want that?
And while it may be small, it’s something you defined (had control over) and every day you complete this small habit, you begin to feel more and more successful at moving toward your goal.
Remember, we don’t fall to the top of the mountain, we climb it, one step at a time.
