Anyone else think it's hilarious I'm writing about fast food after my post last week?? Just me?
Sometimes life just has a way of working that way, but also I'm realistic. I know fast food is a part of a lot of your lives, so instead of poo pooing it, I'm going to give you strategies instead.
So here we go...
You’re driving home from work, stuck in rush hour traffic, and thinking about all the stuff you have to do when you get home like…
-shuffle Susie to dance lessons
-take Bobby to soccer
-go back and pick everyone up
-help with homework
-start a load of laundry
Need I go on?
It’s no wonder we just grab a meal at the nearest fast food restaurant and go on about our lives.
But I will be the first to admit that this was my life growing up and also when I became a parent. Shoot there are days I’m still running to the nearest fast food joint to grab a quick meal, especially during performance week for my youngest.
Look it’s the only way she’s going to eat that week.
But honestly, I think it’s fine. If we’re being honest with ourselves, we have to accept that fast food will come into our lives at one point or another.
So instead of tabooing fast food and letting others judge you for feeding your family something so unholy, instead let’s find a work around that won’t leave us feeling guilty about partaking in it.
Remember, I’m all about fitness fitting into our life, not subtracting from it.
Disclaimer: I’m not here to debate the nutritional quality of fast food. Obviously, you and I both know there are better things. These are merely healthier items found at various local fast food places.
Furthermore, I’m not going to include calorie and macronutrient information because who counts calories? Not me. These are simply my suggestions of what you can order that won’t hinder your goals. I promise this won’t be a list of salads without dressing. ;)
I know this isn't an exhaustive list of all the fast food restaurants out there, but I think it includes several options to help you out during those times when you may not have any other options.
Remember we don't try to be perfect around these parts. It's about consistency over time. And I don't know about you, but if my only choice was to not eat or run through the drive thru, I'd high tail it to the nearest fast food joint.
Now, all this talk of fast food has me craving a nice burger with a side of fries.
And maybe a chocolate milkshake.
