There comes a point in time when you need to call in the reinforcements.
You know, the professionals.
The big kahuna.
OK maybe not the kahuna.
Whomever it is, you know you need assistance.
But not because you’re failing. Nah girl. There’s no such thing as failing unless you stop working altogether.
No, that’s not you. In fact, you are definitely not failing if you’re searching for reinforcements. That shows wisdom. Brains. Smarts.
There have been several times in my life when I needed reinforcements…
...when I wanted to compete
...when I wanted to learn more about how to strength train so I could get stronger
...when my strength became stagnant
And so I searched for help. Sometimes a fresh pair of eyes is just what you need to change gears.
In my coaching practice, I work with a variety of women, who come to me for many reasons. But here are the top 3 reasons I hear from them when it came to why they needed my help.
“I’M NOT GETTING RESULTS OR I’VE HIT A PLATEAU”
I get it.
It’s completely frustrating to be toodling (it’s a word) along, doing great, doing all the right things, AND then…
Out of nowhere the scale stops moving.
Or even worse, the scale never moves.
You ask yourself why am I starving myself and sweating my arse off for this?
Stupid scale. (insert eye roll)
How many of you are saying to yourself right now, “yep, totally me”?
Hear me when I tell you that this is really common and it doesn’t mean you’re doing anything wrong. Our body’s only purpose is to survive and it will do anything to protect itself.
Yeah it sees your eating less and exercising more as “attacks” and it doesn’t like it. So it fights back.
This is where a good coach comes in handy.
You see, we know how to thwart the body’s efforts. Not in a bad way of course.
But in a “I love you body and I’ve got great things planned for you”. #killemwithkindness
It’s about helping your body see that what you’re doing is going to be beneficial so it will cooperate.
Or maybe you’re getting results and you bust thru plateaus like a beast, but you have trouble with consistency or experience times when you need a little extra love sandwich.
“I NEED SOMEONE TO HOLD ME ACCOUNTABLE OR PROVIDE SOME SUPPORT.”
This one is usually the hardest to admit.
We don’t want to admit that we can’t do it without help. It involves swallowing our pride and seeking out a professional.
Let’s look at this with a different perspective.
Personally, I think it takes a lot of courage to ask for help. Not everyone can do that.
Instead they stay stuck in a state of frustration where they eventually just give up because it’s easier to do that then to ask for help.
Believe me, I don’t like to admit when I don’t have all the answers or that I need someone to hold me accountable.
But I wouldn’t be where I am now, helping women create their ideal body, if I didn’t seek out support and accountability from various coaches.
In order to make progress, sometimes we need someone to carry the burden for us at times.
And finally, let’s just face facts that sometimes…
“I JUST DON’T KNOW WHAT TO DO.”
And that’s totally cool.
We don’t always have the answers and the weight loss/fitness industry doesn’t make it any easier for you.
One week eggs are good for you. The next week you’ll die if you eat them.
Low carb, no carb, high fat, low fat.
Workout 5..6..3..4..days a week to get the best results.
It’s no wonder we often find ourselves overwhelmed and frustrated.
It’s why we give up or don’t ever start.
We get analysis paralysis with all the options, the rules, and the conflicting information.
Any of this resonating with you? Are you shaking your head, raising your hand and saying, “amen sister”?
Now can you guess what my answer to this will be? A coach.
Do I sound like a broken record yet?
But here’s the thing, you have a choice. You can either:
I encourage you to take the next step and hire a coach. Not to toot my own horn, but I know a good one. ;)
But more than anything, it’s important to find the right one. One that will listen to you and provide a plan that fits your lifestyle and achieves the results you’re after.
And if you just don’t know where to start, I’m happy to chat with you.
