Welcome to Feature Friday, where I will introduce you to some of my amazing sisters in fitness. If you missed my first few posts in the series, just click on the Feature Friday category to the right to see all of the amazing women I have featured. The ladies featured in this series rise above the fitness industry BS of quick fixes, detoxes, cleanses and/or working out for hours every week in order to achieve results. I am confident that you will find them encouraging and inspirational to your fitness journey.
Today I'm honored to introduce you to Alissa Frazier of LissMS. Alissa was inspired to become a coach after being diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis in 2009. After several relapses and disease progression, she found a way of eating called The Autoimmune Protocol. This is an elimination diet similar to Paleo that eliminates inflammatory foods. This helped her to start healing her body and calming her symptoms.
Alissa's own healing journey inspired her to want to help others heal and feel better through food and fitness. Her passion is helping others find the specific combinations of food and fitness that makes them feel their best.
For her the idea of being healthy is just as much of a state of mind as a state of body. She believes that when someone is truly healthy, they are living in line with their values, eating in a way that nourishes their body and moving in a way that energizes them. When we are not healthy, one or more of these things is out of balance. With her individualized health coaching she is teaching women to throw perfectionism to the curb and practice self-compassion.
She would love to have more women know how good their bodies were really meant to feel. She goes on to say that too often we go through life not feeling our best, either because of the foods we are eating or the way we are moving (or not moving).
Some of her greatest success stories as a coach are clients that realize the foods that work for them, and the ones that don't. They realize how much differently they are feeling day to day. They notice how much more energy they have, how much less pain they have and how much more stamina they have.
So who is Alissa outside of being a fantastic coach? Check out her answers to some of the questions I asked her.
